Drapeau		Il porte les armes des familles Calvert et Crossland, les fondateurs du Maryland. Les couleurs or et noir étaient les leurs. Il a été adopté comme drapeau d'état en 1904
Cachet		Après bien des modifications (1645, 1648, 1692, 1777, 1794, 1817, 1854), le cachet actuel est une réadaptation du cachet utilisé en 1874.

Devise	"Fatti maschii parole femine," loosely translated "manly deeds, womanly words," but more accurately translated as "strong deeds, gentle words."	La liberté féminine traduit "des contrats virils, womanly mots," mais plus exactement les a traduit en tant que "contrats forts, mots doux."

Surnom	Old Line State	en référence aux guerre où le Maryland a participé avec beaucoup de courage.

Adopté comme chanson d'état en 1939. Elle a été écrite par James Ryder Randall en avril 1861. Originaire du Maryland, il enseignait en Louisiane. The despot's heel is on thy shore, Maryland!
