Le drapeau, en soie est constitué d'un fond bleu avec le cachet de l'État en son centre. Les mots "L'État de l'Idaho" sont brodés en caractères majuscules d'or sur une bande rouge au dessous du cachet.

Est perpétuel cette devise est attribuée à un théologien vénitien et mathématicien Pietro Sarpi (1552-1623). L'Idaho l'adopte en 1891.

Origine du nom Expression indienne
Certains pensent que le nom Idaho vient d'une expression indienne de la région voulant dire "Joyaux des montagnes". D'autres prétendent que le nom de l'État  proposé par un politicien, George M.Willing,  en 1860.
